Help Us End the Cat Overpopulation Crisis in Lyon County and the Surrounding Area

In Lyon County alone, it’s estimated that there are more than 10,000 stray and feral cats living without care, shelter, or hope. Each one is vulnerable to illness, injury, hunger, or being born into a life of hardship. The need is urgent and growing.

Together, We Can Change the Story

At the Street Cats Club, we're stepping in. We are the only group in our area dedicated to reducing the stray cat population and rescuing the most vulnerable—those who are sick, injured, or orphaned. Every cat we foster receives the medical care, food, and love they need to survive. And through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), we stop the cycle of suffering before it begins.

See the Impact For Yourself

Watch our 2025 Impact Video to learn how your support is saving lives, and why the need for our work is greater than ever. You'll meet some of the cats we have helped, watch our volunteers in action, and witness what your compassion makes possible.

Your Gift Goes Further on Match Day

On November 17, the Emporia Community Foundation’s Match Day gives you the chance to have your donation to the Street Cats Club increased by a pool of matching funds. Every dollar you give on Match Day grows through the generosity of ECF’s match fund donors, meaning more food, more vet care, more spay/neuter surgeries, and more lives saved.

The Rising Need

Awareness of our TNR program has grown, and so has the demand. Right now, we have 300+ community requests, representing 1,879 cats waiting to be spayed/neutered. With our current resources, we can help about 40 cats each month. Your Match Day gift will help us reach more cats faster — reducing suffering, preventing countless litters from being born into hardship, and meeting the community’s growing demand for help.

Give With Confidence

The Street Cats Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and licensed animal shelter with the State of Kansas. We’re proud to have earned the highest level of transparency on GuideStar and a 4-out-of-4-star rating on Charity Navigator. We have no paid employees and receive no city funding. Your donation goes directly to help cats in need.

We Truly Appreciate Your Support!

You can change everything for a cat who has nothing. When you give, you’re not just helping one cat — you’re breaking the cycle of suffering for generations to come and creating a stronger, more compassionate community for everyone.

We cannot do this lifesaving work without you, and we’re deeply grateful for every gift we receive.

Thank you for being the difference that saves lives.

Mission

The mission of the Street Cats Club is to improve the lives of stray cats throughout Lyon County, KS, and the surrounding area. We achieve this by:

  • reducing the growth of the community cat population through sterilization via Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR)
  • supporting cat colony caregivers with winter shelters and cat food
  • fostering sick, injured, or orphaned stray cats
  • educating the public about the importance of spay/neuter
