Match Day is on Monday, November 13, 2023. Please donate online from 12:00 a.m. - 11:59 p.m. on November 13th. Cash or checks may be dropped off at the ECF Office from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. the day of the event.
Donation Information
Matching funds are available to participating organizations. The match will be pro-rated on a percentage basis. The percentage is figured by taking the amount an organization receives divided by the total amount raised that day. That percentage then determines how much of the match money an organization receives. 100% of your gift plus the match amount will be passed on to the organizations listed on the contribution form.
For example: Participant Organization receives a total of $7,500 in donations. For the matching portion, we use the donations from $1,000 and under. If the total donated to all the organizations is $75,000 (not including any portion of the donations over $1,000), the percentage Participant Organization raised is 10%. Participant Organization then receives 10% of the $60,000 match totaling $6,000 which is added to their total donation of $7,500. The Participant Organization will receive a check for $13,500 from the ECF at the check presentation on Giving Tuesday, November 28, 2023.
THE EMPORIA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION IS A SECTION 501(c)3 NONPROFIT AND DONATIONS MAY QUALIFY AS A CHARITABLE DEDUCTION FOR FEDERAL INCOME TAX PURPOSES. CONSULT WITH YOUR TAX ADVISERS OR THE IRS TO DETERMINE WHETHER A CONTRIBUTION IS DEDUCTIBLE.
If donors provide an email address, all gifts (cash, check and online) will receive a receipt via email. If no email address is provided, donors will receive a receipt letter after the event.
Each individual donor writes one check made payable to the Emporia Community Foundation for the total of all gifts to various participating nonprofits. Donations by participating organizations to themselves will not qualify for the match or incentive prizes.
Checks must be dated between October 2, 2023 and November 13, 2023 and payable to the Emporia Community Foundation.
Donations are irrevocable and must be made on Emporia Match Day - November 13, 2023.
