What is Emporia Area Match Day?
Emporia Area Match Day is a one-day giving event that benefits local nonprofit organizations. Donors support participating organizations while helping them earn a share of matching funds provided by generous community donors.
The Emporia Community Foundation administers the event and distributes both donations and matching funds.
When is Match Day?
Match Day takes place on Monday, November 16, 2026.
Online donations may be made from 12:01 a.m. Sunday, November 15th to 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, November 17th. Cash and check donations will be accepted at the Emporia Community Foundation office from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
How do I donate?
Online donations may be made at emporiamatchday.com.
Cash and check donations may also be delivered to the Emporia Community Foundation office during Match Day business hours.

Is there a minimum or maximum donation?
There is no minimum donation amount.
There is also no maximum gift amount; however, matching funds are calculated only on the first $1,000 donated to any individual organization by a donor.
Example: If you donate $1,500 to one organization, the organization receives the full $1,500, but only $1,000 is included when calculating matching funds.
How does the matching fund work?
Matching dollars are distributed proportionally based on each organization's share of eligible Match Day donations.
Each organization's percentage of total eligible donations determines the percentage of matching funds it receives.
100% of your gift plus the matching amount goes directly to the organization(s) you select.
Can you give an example?
If an organization receives 10% of all eligible Match Day donations, it will receive 10% of the available matching fund pool in addition to the donations it received.
How should I make my check payable?
Please make checks payable to Emporia Community Foundation and include a contribution form indicating which organization(s) should receive your gift.
Can I support more than one organization?
Yes. You may designate multiple organizations with a single donation.
Does the Emporia Community Foundation keep any portion of my gift?
No. 100% of your donation goes to the organization(s) you designate. The Foundation does not retain any portion of Match Day gifts.
Can my donation remain anonymous?
Yes. Donors may choose to make their gifts anonymously.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Please consult your tax advisor regarding the deductibility of your gift.
Can I donate assets instead of cash?
Yes. Eligible gifts may include stocks, grain, and qualified charitable distributions from IRAs. Contact the Emporia Community Foundation for details before Match Day.
