Lyon County Honor Flight

Specific Need

The Southern Lyon County Honor Flight operates solely on donations. All funds raised go directly to the costs associated with the trip.  Examples would include (but are not limited to) airline tickets, hotel rooms, charter bus rentals, garments, foods, etc. 

Mission

The Honor Flight Network recognizes American veterans for their sacrifices and achievements by flying them to Washington, DC to see their memorials at no cost to them.  Additionally, the purpose of the Honor Flight is to establish connections between teenagers and Veterans that allow both generations a better understanding and appreciation for each other.

Profile

The Southern Lyon County Honor Flight is one of the few programs in the US that pairs Veterans with Student Guardians from Olpe and Hartford Schools.  We operate solely through donations.  Our coordinators are volunteer and organize with our students fundraisers to continue to fund the program.

We have taken 14 trips since we began the program in 2016.  We have been fortunate enough to send over 300 deserving Veterans to Washington, DC to see the memorials built in their honor.
