Veterans Legacy Fund

Goal: $50,000.00

Specific Need

The Veterans Legacy Fund's 2026 Match Day goal is to raise $50,000 to bring the Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit to Emporia in September 2027. This nationally recognized exhibit has never before visited Kansas, making this a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our state. While the exhibit fee alone is approximately $36,000, additional funding is required to host the seven Tunnel to Towers FDNY firefighters who travel with the exhibit, conduct school tours, and personally share the stories and sacrifices of September 11. Their travel, lodging, and meals for the week are an essential part of the experience. Every dollar raised will go directly toward bringing this historic educational exhibit to The Founding City of Veterans Day. Building on the incredible success of The Wall That Heals in 2025, which welcomed more than 13,000 visitors to our community, our goal is to create an even larger statewide event that honors the heroes of 9/11, educates future generations, and ensures we Never Forget.

Mission

Veterans Legacy Fund exists to honor our past, serve today, and inspire future generations to carry forward the legacy of the brave men and women who served our nation, especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the United States of America. Through education, remembrance, community service, and patriotic events, we are committed to preserving their stories, honoring their sacrifices, supporting today's veterans and military families, and ensuring their legacy lives on for generations to come.

After welcoming more than 13,000 visitors to The Wall That Heals in 2025, we are ready to bring another unforgettable experience to Emporia, Kansas—The Founding City of Veterans Day. This powerful exhibit will honor our military, law enforcement, firefighters, first responders, and the heroes of September 11 while remembering the tragic day that changed our nation forever.

Twenty-five years later, we remember not only what our country endured, but how Americans came together in the days that followed. Your Match Day gift will help bring that history to Kansas and inspire future generations to understand the sacrifice, courage, unity, and true price of our freedom.

Help us bring this history to Kansas for the first time. Kansas remembers. Kansas honors. Let’s show them Kansas has never forgotten—and never will.
