Emporia Area Match Day

North Lyon County Veterans Memorial

Specific Need

We are down to the last few stones for the Memorial. Those are the Vietnam Stone, Desert Storm and The wars against Terrorism.
Once all the stones are set in place, we will start on the Memory Wall and Garden next to the structure. The old bank buidling adjacent to the Memorial Property has been donated to North Lyon County Veterans Memorial Project. We hope to one day, rebuild it and make a Veteran's Museum.

Mission

A moment to reflect

Profile

Like many rural communtities faiding away; we are losing the memories of the sacrice of our Veterans and townspeople.
Bushong alone, lost 10 men to World War II while the population was on 134 people. North Lyon County has the highest percentage of veteran's per capita then anywhere else in Kansas. Perhaps the United States.

We seek to preserve their sacrifice and contribution to our area. In doing so, we hope to preserve our little spot on the prairie.

The Memorial is located in Bushong, just south of highway 56 on Road F. It is one block north of Kansas Parks and Wildlife Rail Trail.
